Juicing is a great way to improve your health quickly, without going on a “fad” diet or severely restricting your calories. It’s all about nutrition. When you liquify fruits and vegetables such as kale, you are taking in the nutrients from the plant matter and leaving the bulky fiber and skin. This allows you to consume all of the vitamins and minerals without filling up. There are many benefits to adding fresh fruit and vegetable liquids to your diet each day.
1. Weight Loss
Juicing is an excellent way to lose weight, either by incorporating these drinks into a reduced calorie, lean diet or doing a fast. Because they offer a significant amount of vitamins and minerals with each serving, there is less of a concern of malnutrition as there is with other strict diets or fasts. You can drop a significant amount of weight in a relatively short amount of time with juices. Just remember that fruits and vegetables contain very little, if any, protein, You may want to discuss with your doctor the best way to combine lean proteins with the liquids, especially if you’re doing a fast.
2. Increased Energy
People who ingest a significant amount of juices notice that their energy levels increase exponentially. They tend to wake up refreshed instead of groggy and have more energy throughout the day. Coffee drinkers notice that they no longer need their usual caffeine boost in the morning, and when paired with exercise, juicing can provide a person with the energy they need to get through the entire day.
One of the most powerful benefits of consuming liquified fruits and vegetables is their ability to detoxify the body. There is very little – if any – waste that has to be processed by the body when a person drinks juice, therefore the body has the ability to focus on ridding the body of built up waste instead. The nutrients contained in the drink nourish the body and flushes out toxins that have built up inside the body’s cells, helping a person to feel lighter and more “pure.”Another great way to cleanse your body so you can lose weight, experience amazing energy and m

4. Improved Immunity
Our bodies put a lot of work into keeping our immune system strong and healthy, and it has a difficult time doing that when little to no vitamins are consumed. Our everyday diet typically consists of fast foods or highly processed convenience foods, which contain more fat and sodium than they do actual nutrition. This can decrease the immune system’s effectiveness, allowing people to get sicker more often. However, when a person juices, he or she consumes the readily available nutrients in the liquid that boosts the immune system and helps it to fight off unwanted invaders such as bacteria and viruses.
5. Healthier Skin, Nails And Hair
The nutrients contained in liquified fruits and vegetables contribute to strong nails, shiny hair, eliminating acne and healthier skin. People who are routinely juicing notice that after just a few days, the quality of their hair, nails and skin has improved. Skin may be more supple, hair may get longer and healthier looking and nails may get stronger instead of brittle. The longer a person consumes liquified fruits and vegetables, the healthier these parts of the body will become, as the body grows new hair, nails and layers of skin with the nutrients that are provided through the juice.
If you haven’t started juicing yet, now would be a great time to start. All it takes is a quick trip to the supermarket to grab a juicer and a bag full of healthy fruits and vegetables to begin making nutritious, delicious drinks that are good for you.

Juice fasting is something you’ve likely heard about, especially if you follow health and fitness news. With the success of the documentary “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead,” which follows two men who lost an incredible amount of weight, many people are trying this new technique to lose weight, gain energy and become healthier overall.
So, what is it?
It is when you abstain from something. You can abstain from anything – television, soda or even food. We are referring to when you refrain from eating solid food and only consume your nutrients through juices. It sounds impossible, but it isn’t! You can survive and even thrive on juices alone, because you’re still getting all of the important nutrients your body needs. Unlike a typical fast or diet, you needn’t be concerned with malnutrition or starvation. The fruits and vegetables you will provide the nutrition you need. Now, that’s not to say that you won’t feel hungry. You may feel as though you’re starving when you do a fast. But your body is still getting what it needs.
A short term – such as a 3 day or 10 day – can help you to detox. A longer juice fast can help you to lose significant amounts of weight as your body begins to burn stored fat. There are also many other benefits of juicing, including:
It focuses on long term health and wellness as opposed to quick weight loss and dieting. Although you can lose weight fairly quickly, it should be undertaken only when the person wishes to achieve total wellness and live a healthier lifestyle. The positive effects of juicing fasting will be lost if the you returns to a diet of fatty, sugary and processed foods after. To stay well, you must begin with the commitment to a healthier lifestyle and diet once completed.
What Juices Are Good?
You can fast with any type of juice. A mixture of both fruit and vegetable is best, but you can omit any fruits and vegetables that you don’t like and add whatever you do like. The best thing about it is that it is completely versatile! Some common fruits and vegetables include:
You can also add a variety of different flavorings including spices, fresh ginger root, lime, garlic, coconut water, lemon, parsley, cilantro and any other fresh herb or spice that you enjoy. Part of the fun is having fun experimenting with different types of juices until you find the one that you enjoy the best.
While nutritionists, doctors, and fitness gurus have long preached the benefits of low-fat diets for losing weight and keeping it off, the truth is that a proper diet still needs to incorporate some healthy fats in order to avoid hormone imbalance, poor vitamin and nutrient absorption, and increased risk of cancer. The key is to understand the different types of dietary fat in order consume only the ones that are beneficial. Below is a breakdown of the different types of fats found in foods:
The amount of trans fat in a person’s diet is linked with his or her risk of developing or dying from heart disease, a new review of studies suggests. The review showed that people who ate higher amounts of trans fat were 34 percent more likely to die from any cause over the periods studied, compared with people who ate lower amounts of trans fat.
Monounsaturated Fat: One of the two unsaturated forms of fat, monounsaturated fats are considered a “good” fat because of their link to improved cardiovascular health and cholesterol levels. This family of fats includes some natural oils- including olive oil, canola oil, sunflower oil, peanut oil, and sesame oil -as well as red meats, dairy products, avocados, nuts, and peanut butter. Monounsaturated fats are linked to increased energy, improved mood, and decreased risk of coronary heart disease.
Polyunsaturated Fat: Along with monounsaturated fats, polyunsaturated fats should be considered another good option for adding healthy fat to any diet. The most common sources of polyunsaturated fats include corn oil, walnuts, tofu, sunflower, pumpkin, and sesame seeds, soy milk, and fatty fish such as tuna, salmon, trout, and sardines. This type of fat has been linked to improved memory and brain function, lower risk of certain types of cancer, and lower risks of cardiovascular disease.
Trans Fats: Trans fats are type of hydrogenated oil that are relatively rare in nature but easily man-made. They are considered the least healthy of all dietary fats due to the fact that they have no significant health benefits, but plenty of downsides. Trans fat consumption is linked to increased rates of cardiovascular disease, increased levels of LDL cholesterol, and increased triglycerides in the bloodstream that may lead to inflammation. Studies have also indicated possible links between trans fats and diabetes, weight gain, and depression. The most common sources of trans fats are commercial baked goods, pre-packaged snack foods, stick margarine, shortening, and certain kinds of candy.
Saturated Fats: Saturated fats are a difficult group to categorize because they have some health benefits and some potential risks. Dairy products, for instance, may contain high levels of saturated fats, but provide excellent levels of calcium and protein. While studies have not proven a link between saturated fat consumption and heart disease or cancer, it is still recommended to consume this type of fat in moderation for those who suffer from bad cholesterol, high blood pressure, or are at risk for heart problems. Common sources of saturated fats include fatty meats, whole-fat milk and cheese, butter, ice cream, and coconut oil.
It is recommended that the average person gets 20 to 30 % of their daily calories from healthy sources of fat. This means incorporating monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats into the diet, replacing and cutting down on trans fats, and consuming saturated fats in moderation provided there are no limiting health factors. Following these guidelines leads to a healthier, more well-rounded diet that offers a range of long-term health benefits.
